Prenatal

Prenatal care is vital in ensuring the healthy growth and development of your baby. Prenatal care should begin as soon as possible and usually includes monthly doctor's visits. Your doctor may measure your uterus, take ultrasounds and perform several other routine tests to keep you and your baby as healthy as possible.

Teens & Young Adults

Gynecological exams are valuable to teens & young adults in many ways. It is important for young women to be assessed early, especially if they are sexually active, and to begin a relationship with a doctor that may guide them through many important times in their lives. Physician Assistants

What is a Physician Assistant?
A Physician Assistant (PA) is a graduate of an accredited PA program and licensed by the State to practice medicine under the supervision of a physician. PA's provide a wide range of services, such as physical examinations, ordering laboratory tests and interpreting results, and prescribing medications. PA's sit for a national certifying examination or "Board" and are retested every 6 years. All of our Physician Assistants are members of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, as well as other professional groups.

Across the nation, it is felt that the addition of PA's to medical practices has improved access to health care service. According to the Association of Physician Assistants in Obstetrics and Gynecology, "patient waiting times are reduced and they have more time for questions, counseling and education. These factors help to increase the level of patient understanding and adherence to medical treatment, which in turn reduces the cost of health care."

When to Schedule with a PA
Many of our patients utilize our PAs as their primary health care providers. They specialize in well-patient care, which includes routine annual examinations, breast checks, pap smears, contraception, and prenatal care. For problem visits, they are in constant communication with our physicians, and will either consult with them regarding any complex problems or refer the patient to the doctor's care.

At Women's HealthFirst, patients often shift between doctors and PA's, usually because of their personal scheduling necessities. We know you will be in good hands with any provider here.

Neha Dalal, PA-C

Neha is perhaps our most multilingual health care provider, speaking English, Spanish, Hindi, and Gujarati. And her professional and caring manner would bridge all language barriers. Neha received her undergraduate training in Biology and Pre-Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Iowa. She then received a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the Arizona School of Health Sciences. Her training took her to many locations across America and around the world, including a surgery rotation at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, OB/GYN training in Greenville, South Carolina, and time at the Neurology Clinic in Ahmedabad, India.

You can choose Neha for all your GYN or OB care, as she is proficient in many areas, including prenatal care, preventive medicine, GYN problems and IUD insertions and removals.

In her spare time, Neha enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and Indian music and movies. And congratulate Neha and her husband on the recent birth of their daughter.

Mireya Ledesma MMS, PA-C

Mireya is already a veteran with the Women's HealthFirst health care team. She is an extremely dedicated Certified Physician Assistant, providing patient care, which includes prenatal care, preventive annual exams, pap smears, and contraceptive counseling.

Having received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loyola University, Chicago, she continued on for an Associate of Applied Science Physician Assistant degree, as well as a Master of Medical Science. She is proficient in assessing and diagnosing patients, and she is highly regarded for her thorough, yet compassionate manner.

Mireya is Spanish bilingual, which has proven to be a tremendous asset for many of our patients. This skill was also extremely useful in one of her previous positions with AXA Assistance USA, where she was an International Assistance Coordinator. In that capacity, she aided in the emergency medical evacuation of foreign nationals, and acted as an interpreter for hospitals, medical providers, clients and medical correspondents.

Penny Grillos, PA-C

Penny has had many years of experience in the field of OB/GYN. She graduated from the first PA program in the state of Illinois, which was at Cook County Hospital/Chicago City-Wide College. Prior to that, she worked for ten years as an RN in both emergency medicine and family practice settings. Women's health care has been her area of interest for many years, and she is especially gratified to use her Spanish language skills whenever needed in delivering patient care.

Penny's outside interests include travel, ethnic cooking, fishing and hiking. She looks forward to providing a high level of quality care, which respects and is shaped by your choices.

She received her undergraduate training in Molecular Biology/Health Science from Benedictine University in Lisle. After completing a variety of rotations, she recognized that her interest focused on women's health and pediatrics. (She will love interacting with your baby at postpartum visits.) She had a variety of training settings, from free clinics and large teaching hospitals in the city to small farming towns and suburban locations.
